A Message From Beth Soderfelt

I knew that A New Leaf was a place to buy plants. Having a son with Down syndrome, though, gave me a whole new perspective into all that A New Leaf provides for the community. A New Leaf is a place that provides horticulture therapy for individuals with intellectual disabilities AND a way to earn a living. A New Leaf provides fresh produce to its customers in the community, including local food banks. A New Leaf provides safe and affordable housing for individuals with intellectual disabilities who work in our community. Starting in 2022, A New Leaf will open a Transitional Academy for individuals with intellectual disabilities and Autism. The Academy will provide a 2-year, live-in setting for high school graduates to obtain the skills necessary to live independently and work successfully in the community. A New Leaf provides daily examples of self-determination and advocacy in our community. A New Leaf receives some of its funding from the Tulsa Area United Way. During the United Way's annual kickoff, agencies receiving United Way funds are restricted in actively fundraising so I'm stepping up to fundraise on A New Leaf's behalf. I'm asking friends & family to help me support an organization that does so much not only for people with intellectual disabilities and Autism, but also for our community. No gift is too small so consider supporting A New Leaf.

A New Leaf’s mission is to provide job training, life skills, and residential services to elevate confident independence and self-sufficiency for people with developmental disabilities and autism.

A New Leaf was established in 1979 to provide horticultural-related job training to adults with developmental disabilities. We began with one greenhouse and one staff, and we served two individuals. By 1980, A New Leaf grew to serve 13 individuals. In 1986, we built our first 12,000 sq. ft. greenhouse and vocational training facility. Then in 2013, A New Leaf began operating group homes and providing 24-hour assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities living independently. Our residential program has grown each year since. In 2022 Phase one of The Village opened in Owasso, providing safe and affordable housing for clients and space for ANL's growing programs. Phase two is scheduled to break ground in early 2025.

Today A New Leaf proudly serves 500+ clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism, employs more than 280 staff, and operates six greenhouses, two permanent garden centers as well as two seasonal garden centers. With an estimated 40,000 in the Tulsa metro with I/DD and autism our work is far from over.
